There are a lot of sayings that are worth saying. Mainly because they are funny. “That’s what she said.” Classic. Maybe inappropriate, but classic, none the less. “You reap what you sew.” Less funny, but a saying as well.
Then there’s the ‘other’ category of sayings. Things that you think but you would never dare to say aloud. Those include, but are not limited to: “Yes, that does make you look fat.”, “No, actually that food sucked.”, and “I really wish I had a kitten.” That last one is false. No one ever wishes they had a kitten. Regardless, we use a lot of sayings every single day.
There are few, though, that deserve full acceptance.
I don’t have to accept a “that’s what she said” saying. If I don’t think she said it, more power to me. Paul takes one saying to a whole nutha level. “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners- of whom I am the worst.” 1 Timothy 1:15 NIV ’84. Jesus came to save sinners. Paul says this deserves fullacceptance. Not partial. It’s not on par with “that’s what she said” or “I wish I had a kitten.” Jesus came to save sinners, and it deserves full acceptance. It deserves our full attention. It deserves our full effort. It deserves our whole self. It deserves our everything.
There are few sayings that deserve full acceptance, but the fact that Christ died for you and for me definitely deserves our full attention, effort, self, acceptance, and our everything.
